I approach service as the outer ring of the AI literacy framework: the work of extending meaningful engagement beyond individual courses and research projects into institutions, professional communities, museums, schools, and public life.
Department-level leadership
Convergent Engineering Education Initiatives
As Program Lead, I help coordinate strategy for AI and other convergent technologies across teaching, research, faculty development, partnerships, credentials, governance, external engagement, and proposal development. The work is intentionally horizontal across engineering disciplines and vertical across learner levels—from K–12 and informal education to graduate programs and workforce development.

Student engagement
Student Engagement Coordinator at the Warren B. Nelms Institute, supporting the IoT Club and applied AI hardware activities.
Academic governance
Curriculum committee member for the MS in AI Systems and MS in Applied Data Science, with additional department service in research-to-practice and external engagement.
University strategy
Contributor to UF AI Blue Sky efforts, AI² initiatives, K–12 workforce coordination, and cross-college conversations about AI education and infrastructure.
National collaboration
Member of the Cyber-Informed Engineering Education group led by Idaho National Laboratory and NSF proposal panelist.

Children Beyond Our Borders
I support informal learning experiences for Hispanic communities and English-language learners, grounded in the belief that AI literacy must cross language, cultural, and socioeconomic boundaries.
Mentoring
Recent mentoring includes an undergraduate AI Scholar, master’s capstone students, undergraduate honors theses, near-peer research teams, and service on graduate committees across engineering, education, geology, and computing.
Professional service
I review for AERA, RESPECT, ASEE Women in Engineering, NARST, the Journal of Computer Science Integration, the Journal of Digital Learning in Teacher Education, School Science and Mathematics, and other scholarly venues.
